Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary will take oath as Bihar’s Chief Minister on Wednesday, replacing Janata Dal (United)’s Nitish Kumar, the state’s longest-serving preimer.
Choudhary was elected as the BJP legislature party leader, and met Governor Syed Ata Hasnain to stake claim to form a new government in Bihar. He was accompanied by all the NDA leaders.
He was elected as the legislature party leader soon after Nitish Kumar, who became a Rajya Sabha MP last week, submitted his resignation to Governor Hasnain.
Several senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Choudhary and his ministers. Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar is also likely to be present. Vijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Chaudhary are expected to take oath as deputy chief ministers, according to a report.

Along with Samrat Choudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary are set to take oath as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister.
BJP’s Samrat Choudhary is set to take the oath as Bihar Chief Minister at 10:50 am at Lok Bhawan in Patna.
On Samrat Choudhary being elected as the leader of the Bihar NDA Legislative Party, NCP-SP leader Seema Malik said, “I congratulate Samrat Chaudhary and the BJP for their dream has been fulfilled… I don’t think there will be any change there because for the last 20 years, there was a BJP and JDU government there… Nitish Kumar’s departure is a betrayal of the people of Bihar.”

Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary is all set to become the first BJP chief minister of the state, following JD(U) boss Nitish Kumar’s resignation on Tuesday.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan congratulated Samrat Chaudhary ahead of his oath as Bihar Chief Minister, expressing confidence in his leadership and vision for the state. “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Samrat Chaudhary. He will take my Bihar into the next phase of development,” Paswan said, adding that the state would “reach new heights” under his leadership.
Drawing a comparison with former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Paswan said Kumar had brought Bihar out of the “jungle raj” era and ensured stability, and that the new government would carry forward those efforts.

The oath of office was administered at Lok Bhawan in the presence of senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the BJP, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and three other alliance partners.
