Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the demise of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

After Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash in Baramati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah called state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to enquire about the incident.

"Deeply saddened by the tragic untimely demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar Ji. Sincere condolences to his family, supporters and the people of Maharashtra.

“This is very sad and tragic news. Today is a dark day in Maharashtra’s political and social life. When the news came this morning that the plane carrying Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar from Mumbai to Baramati had met with an accident, we were all praying for his safety. His passing has brought a mountain of grief upon Maharashtra. There was a special bond between Baramati and him, and it is a strange coincidence that he passed away there. I never imagined that we would have to pay tribute to him like this," said Sanjay Raut. 

"Deeply shocked and stunned by the suddden demise of Ajit Pawar! The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and his co-passengers have died in a disastrous plane crash at Baramati today morning, and I am feeling a deep sense of loss. My condolences to his family including his uncle Sharad Pawar ji, and late Ajitji's all friends and followers. The incident needs proper investigation," Mamata Banerjee said.

"The news of the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar and his fellow passengers in a plane crash today is deeply saddening. I stand with the people of Maharashtra in this moment of grief. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire Pawar family and their loved ones during this difficult time," said Rahul Gandhi. 

Shambhavi Pathak, the First Officer, was also killed in the incident.

According to officials, the impact was severe, leaving the bodies of the victims unrecognisable. Identification had to be carried out using clothing and other personal belongings.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has begun its probe into the Pawar crash tragedy. An AAIB team is set to visit the VSR Aviation office and is likely to collect documents and other relevant information related to the aircraft involved, including operational details and safety records.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Sharad Pawar to express his condolences over the tragic demise of Ajit Pawar.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a tragic accident.

Mann said the news was extremely heartbreaking and called Pawar’s passing a great loss not just for Maharashtra but for the entire country. "This is a great loss not only for Maharashtra but for the entire country," he said.

He prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for Pawar’s family, friends and relatives, while also extending condolences to the families of others who died in the crash, including the pilot, co-pilot and colleagues.

Reacting to the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said it was a very sad and unfortunate incident. He offered prayers for Ajit Pawar’s soul and expressed condolences to his family members, loved ones and associates.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu is holding a high-level meeting on the Baramati plane crash with senior officials, including MoCA Secretary Samir Sinha, DG DGCA Faiz Kidwai, Airports Authority of India Director Vipin Kumar, and Joint Secretary Asangba.

Learjet manufacturer Bombardier expressed deep sorrow over the tragic aircraft crash that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

In a statement, Bombardier said it was deeply saddened by the incident and extended its sincerest sympathies to all those affected. The company said it could not comment on the possible cause of the accident until the investigation is completed and added that it will fully support the investigation authorities, including implementing any recommendations if required.

Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, saying he was very close to his family. Bawankule said they had shared joys and sorrows for over 22 years and described their bond as unbreakable, adding that Maharashtra has suffered a great loss and the incident was truly heartbreaking.

Sunetra Pawar and NCP–SCP MP Supriya Sule reached the Baramati cremation ground, where the mortal remains of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are kept.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Baramati at 10.15 am to attend the funeral of Ajit Pawar, which will be held at 11 am at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds. 

The funeral procession of Ajit Pawar has begun from his Katewadi residence, with full state honours being accorded. The procession will soon reach the cremation ground after covering a distance of around six kilometres.
