The crime spree in Bihar capital continues unabated ahead of the assembly elections this year. Even as the investigation into the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka remains unsolved, another shocking incident shook Patna on Sunday night, July 6, 2025. In Khagaul, near the DAV School, unidentified assailants gunned down a man named Ajit Kumar. He died on the spot after sustaining multiple bullet wounds. Ajit, aged around 50, was a resident of Mustafapur.

According to initial reports, Ajit Kumar ran a private school. The attack was carried out by bike-borne criminals who fled the scene immediately after opening fire. The identity and motive of the attackers remain unknown. Police reached the spot soon after the incident and have launched an investigation.

SIT Formed To Investigate Murder

Bhanu Pratap Singh, City SP (West), confirmed that Ajit Kumar was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside DAV School in the Khagaul police station area. Acting swiftly, a police team reached the site and, with the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, collected evidence.

CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the culprits. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and search operations are underway to nab the criminals.

Growing Concern Over Law and Order In Election Year

The series of murders in the state has once again raised serious concerns about Bihar's law and order situation. With back-to-back major crimes, public anxiety is growing, especially in this election year. The opposition has intensified its criticism, accusing the Nitish Kumar-led government of presiding over "Mahajungle Raj" (total lawlessness). They claim Nitish Kumar, who also holds the Home portfolio, has lost control of the state and has abandoned Bihar. Ordinary citizens now fear stepping out of their homes, they claimed.

Meanwhile, a suspect has reportedly been detained by the police in the Gopal Khemka Murder case.
