Yoga practitioner from Kuwait, travel blogger couple among Padma Award recipients

A Yoga practitioner from Kuwait, Shaikha AJ Al Sabah, travel blogger couple Hugh and Colleen Gantzer from Uttarakhand will be conferred with a Padma Shri award, announced the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A Yoga practitioner from Kuwait, Shaikha AJ Al aSabah, travel blogger couple Hugh and Colleen Gantzer from Uttarakhand are among the 30 unsung heroes who will be conferred with Padma Shri -- the third-highest civilian honour in the country.

President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday announced the recipients of Padma Shri awards, among the country's highest civilian honours, on the eve of Republic Day.

Among the other awardees are Nagaland fruit farmer L Hangthing, instrumentalist P Datchanamoorthy from Puducherry. Social entrepreneur from Madhya Pradesh Sally Holkar, Marathi author Maruti Bhujangrao Chitampalli.

Vilas Dangre, Venkappa Ambaji Sugatekar, Hariman Sharma, Jumde Yomgam Gamlin, Naren Gurung, and Jagdish Joshila, Batool Begum, Pandi Ram Mandavi, Nirmala Devi are the other-noted personalities who have been announced to be the recipients of Padma Shri.

The awards are generally announced on the eve of Republic Day every year. The awards are presented in various disciplines, like public affairs, science and engineering, social work, medicine, literature, sports, civil services, etc.
