XUV 700 loses control on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, plunges into gorge; 5 dead

The accident occurred around 7 am on Friday near Bhimpura village. The vehicle, registered as MHO3 EL 1388, was travelling from Delhi towards Gujarat when the driver reportedly lost control.

CCTV footage has captured the moment a speeding XUV700 veered off the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway before falling into a ditch near the Mahi river, resulting in the deaths of five people, including a 15-year-old boy and a 60-year-old man.

The accident occurred around 7 am on Friday near Bhimpura village. The vehicle, registered as MHO3 EL 1388, was travelling from Delhi towards Gujarat when the driver reportedly lost control.

The car broke through the expressway railing and plunged into the ditch below. The impact caused extensive damage, with the front portion and roof of the vehicle torn apart. Parts of the bumper and number plate were found some distance away from the crash site.

Police said the occupants were residents of Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Rasool, 70, son of Ishaq Choudhary of Kurla, Mumbai; Khalis, son of Ghulam Rasool Choudhary of Vadodara; Abdul Ghulam, son of Danish Choudhary of Kurla, Mumbai; Danish, 15, son of Usman Choudhary of Kurla, Mumbai; and Durgesh Prasad, 35.

Local residents assisted police in retrieving the bodies from the vehicle. The remains have been sent to Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Pandey Government Medical College in Ratlam, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted once the victims' families arrive. Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
