Watch: Man falls into gap between train and platform in Mumbai, rescued by alert cop

A Railway Protection Force personnel saved a 40-year-old passenger who slipped while boarding a moving train at Andheri station. The dramatic rescue was captured on CCTV, showing the officer pulling the man to safety.

Timely intervention by an alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel saved the life of a 40-year-old passenger who slipped and fell while boarding a moving train at Andheri Railway Station in Mumbai. The accident and rescue were captured on CCTV.

The clip shows a passenger carrying two bags running on the platform to catch a train. As he tries to board, he slips and falls into the gap between the train and the platform. As soon as the passenger falls, assistant sub-inspector Pahup Singh, who was standing right behind him, springs into action and drags the man to safety.

The incident took place on platform number eight when the Lok Shakti Express was leaving the station.

"A passenger tried to board the running train but lost his grip and fell on the platform. He got stuck in the gap between the train and the platform," an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI in its report.

The rescued passenger has been identified as Rajendra Mangilal, 40, a resident of Seven Bungalows in Andheri.
