A professor at a medical college on the outskirts of Bengaluru proposed to a student inside a classroom, sparking outrage and leading to him being thrashed and beaten with slippers by the student and her classmates.
During class hours, the professor expressed his feelings to the student, but the woman immediately objected, leading to a heated exchange.
In a video that has since surfaced, the professor is heard telling the student, “You said ‘I love you’ to me,” to which the woman firmly denies the claim, responding, “I have not said it.”
The footage shows the professor, with a mic on, saying, “I would like to propose to one of the most important girls in our batch,” before naming the student. She immediately questioned him, escalating the situation into a public argument.
The video then cuts to the woman saying, “If you want to speak, you can go to the principal. The entire batch will come with you”.
The argument continued:
Professor: How come you proposed to me?
Student: When did I propose?
Professor: Didn't you say ‘I love you’?
Student: Excuse me? When did I propose?
Professor: There is CCTV.
Student: Show me that.
The professor, starting to walk out of the class, said: I will talk to you tomorrow.
Student: I don’t want to talk.
Moments later, the situation escalated as the student, along with her classmates, assaulted the professor on the college premises. They were seen beating him and hitting him with slippers.
Police have visited the college and said they are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
