PREVIOUS INCIDENTS IN INDIA

A number of accidents involving adventure sports took place in 2025, leading to several deaths and injuries.

In October 2025, a man fell into Uttarakhand's Tehri Lake during a paragliding training program organised by the state tourism department.

The incident occurred near Koti Colony, where a 26-year-old trainee named Rishi lost control during the landing and fell into the water. Fortunately, he was rescued.

In July last year, A 25-year-old tourist from Gujarat's Ahmedabad died after his paraglider crashed at a take-off site in Himachal Pradesh's Indrunag.

Kangra District Additional Superintendent of Police Hitesh Lakhanpal said the incident happened during take-off when the glider failed to lift into the air and crashed after a short distance. Both Satish Rajesh Bhai and pilot, Suraj, sustained injuries.

In January 2025, a 27-year-old woman and her instructor were killed after they crashed into a ravine while they were paragliding in Goa.

According to the police, the accident took place in Keri village in north Goa, and the victims were identified as Shivani Dable from Pune and her instructor, Sumal Nepali (26) from Nepal.

Both of them crashed into a ravine shortly after taking off from a cliff at Keri Plateau around 5 pm on Saturday, police said. They were killed on the spot.
