A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will identify, trace and punish every terrorist and their backers who killed 26 innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, US spy chief Tulsi Gabbard on Friday condemned the Islamist terror attack and said that the US will support India as it hunts down the perpetrators.

The US Director of National Intelligence tweeted, "We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack, targeting and killing 26 Hindus in Pahalgam. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, PM @narendramodi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack."

Notably, this comes hours after US State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce refused to entertain a Pakistani journalist asking him about the Pahalgam terror attack.

"President Trump and Secretary Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India, strongly condemns all acts of terrorism. We pray for the lives of those lost and pray for the recovery of the injured and call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice," Bruce said.

Earlier, President Donald Trump also condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and said that India has the full support of the United States.

"Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump on Wednesday also called Prime Minister Modi to express his condolences and offer full support.

"President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack. India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror," said Randhir Jaiswal, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said.
