Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 24, 2026: A shocking case of alleged gang rape involving a young woman preparing for UPSC examinations in Delhi has surfaced in Lucknow, with police registering a case against three accused, including a man known to the victim.

As per report, the woman was travelling from Jaunpur to Delhi on May 15 when an acquaintance allegedly persuaded her to get off the train at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.

Police said the accused, identified as Shivam Yadav, allegedly took the woman to his rented accommodation in the Sushant Golf City area, where he reportedly mixed sedatives in her coffee, rendering her unconscious before sexually assaulting her.

The victim further alleged that later the same evening another youth, known to the main accused, also raped her. On the following day, a third accused allegedly joined them, after which the woman was repeatedly gang-raped for three consecutive days.

After the alleged assault, the accused reportedly booked a cab for the victim from Sushant Golf City to Charbagh railway station and sent her back to Delhi on the Suheldev Express using a sleeper class ticket.

The traumatised woman later informed her family about the incident. Her father subsequently contacted the railway helpline seeking assistance. A Government Railway Police (GRP) team responded and coordinated with the family.

Based on the victim’s statement, a Zero FIR was registered at Anand Vihar Police Station in Delhi and later transferred to Sushant Golf City Police Station for further investigation.

The victim, a BA Honours student at a private college in Delhi and an aspiring UPSC candidate, had travelled to Jaunpur earlier this month after her college closed. She was reportedly returning to Delhi to collect her examination admit card.

Police have identified the main accused as Shivam Yadav, a resident of Jalalpur in Jaunpur district. Efforts are underway to arrest all the accused involved in the case.
