A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur allegedly severely injured his wife by biting her nose and cheeks during a violent altercation over a domestic dispute, police said.

The attack tore off flesh from her nose and left deep wounds on her cheeks. She was initially rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors stitched around ten wounds on her face. She was later referred to a medical college in Jhansi for advanced treatment.

The victim, Pana, has been married to Phool for several years. According to her brother, the couple had frequent arguments, and on the night of the incident, one such dispute escalated into a brutal assault.

Given the extent of the injury to her nose, doctors have advised plastic surgery to help restore her facial features.

Police have registered a case against the accused based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother. The husband is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him, officials said.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and any prior history of domestic violence, which has led to a grievous assault where a husband bit his wife's face, causing serious injuries. Meanwhile, the victim remains under medical supervision, with doctors closely monitoring her condition.
