Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey has registered strong advance ticket sales in India, with premium-format screenings witnessing high demand well ahead of the film's theatrical release.

IMAX ticket bookings opened nearly a month before the scheduled release, and several premium-priced shows in cities including Mumbai and Delhi have already sold out. According to reports, some IMAX tickets were priced at up to ₹3,300, reflecting significant audience interest in the film.

The early response adds to the anticipation surrounding Nolan's latest project, which marks his adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic. The filmmaker is known for directing large-scale theatrical releases such as Oppenheimer, Interstellar and Inception.

Speaking to the Associated Press about the excitement surrounding The Odyssey, Nolan acknowledged both the enthusiasm and the uncertainty that comes with releasing a film.

“The audience tells you what it is. And that means that for us, this is an exciting moment, but a very frightening moment, because it’s real. There’s nothing to hide behind. We made this film for a theatrical audience, and it goes out in the world as that. And we’ll see what the world makes of it,” he said.

The Odyssey is based on Homer's classic Greek epic and follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War. His journey is marked by encounters with gods, mythical creatures and numerous challenges that test his resilience, intelligence and determination.

The film features an ensemble cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron.

With advance bookings already showing strong demand, particularly for IMAX screenings, industry observers will be watching closely to see how the film performs when it releases in theatres. The commercial success of the film, however, will ultimately depend on audience reception after its release.
