A doctor in Assam's Silchar allegedly amputated a patient's private parts without consent during a biopsy procedure. The patient was also not allowed to meet the doctor when he came to know about the incident.

The patient, Atikur Rahman from Jiribam district in neighbouring Manipur, approached a private hospital in Silchar for treatment of an infection in his private parts. According to the complaint, Dr Sinha admitted him for treatment and advised several tests, later recommending a biopsy.

The patient said he was taken into the operation theatre for the biopsy procedure. However, without his consent, Dr Sinha allegedly performed surgery and removed his private parts.

Rahman said he only realised what had happened after his dressing was removed after the operation.

"Dr Sinha told me he'd take a small tissue sample for biopsy, but when I removed the dressing, I was shocked to find my private parts had been amputated," he alleged.

Following the incident, Rahman said he attempted to meet Dr Sinha but was blocked by the hospital administration.

Unable to get a response from the hospital, he approached the police and lodged a formal complaint against the doctor, demanding justice.
