Tokyo, Japan: Vandana Katariya, who scored three of India's four goals against South Africa in the final pool A hockey game here at Oi Hockey Stadium — South Pitch on Saturday, became the first Indian woman to achieve a hat-trick in the Olympics.The 29-year-old forward's three goals ensured that the women's hockey team's prospects of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics quarter-finals remain intact, as the outcome of the Ireland-Great Britain game now determines the team's fate. Tokyo 2020 for India tweeted “She shoots, she scores! Vandana Katariya scored 3 of India's 4 goals in their match against Russia to become the first Indian woman to register a hat-trick at the Olympics!”India won two and lost three of their five Group Stage matches. Katariya scored the game's first two goals in the first two quarters and completed the hat trick by scoring the game's winning goal in the fourth. India's other goal came from Neha Goyal as the team won a thrilling 4-3 match against South Africa.
