JAMMU, Apr 21: A 50-year-old man was detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) after he was found moving under suspicious circumstances in a forward area near the International Border here, officials said on Tuesday.

The man was spotted by a BSF patrol in the Mayan Border Out Post area in the Makwal forward belt of sub-sector Phallian Mandal on Monday evening. He was taken into custody after failing to give a satisfactory explanation for his presence in the sensitive zone, officials added.

During preliminary questioning, the man was suspected to be mentally challenged. However, security agencies are not ruling out any angle and are conducting detailed interrogation to ascertain his identity and motive.

No incriminating material was recovered from his possession during the initial search, officials said.

The man has been handed over to police for further investigation.
