Speeding car mows down Zomato delivery rider in west Delhi, driver allegedly drunk

A Zomato delivery rider was killed after a speeding car allegedly driven by an inebriated driver hit him in west Delhi's Subhash Nagar around 4.30 am. The injured man was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A food delivery rider was killed after a speeding car allegedly rammed into him in west Delhi’s Subhash Nagar in the early hours of Saturday, marking yet another fatal road accident in the national capital.

The incident took place around 4.30 am when the victim, a Zomato delivery executive, was struck by a fast-moving vehicle while passing through the area, police said. Eyewitnesses claimed that the driver of the offending car appeared to be in an inebriated condition at the time of the crash.

The impact flung the rider onto the road, leaving him critically injured. Passersby alerted authorities, following which he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors, however, declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and initiated an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and question the driver, while CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined to ascertain the sequence of events.
