A woman couldn’t hold back her tears as she reunited with her pet dog after they were separated during the devastating floods in Brazil. Heavy rains, which have battered Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state since late April, caused historic floods that killed over 150 people and submerged hundreds of towns.

In an emotional video, meanwhile, that has been made available online by Good News Movement, the woman was taken to a particular spot on a boat that was navigated by the rescue team. She waited with bated breath and was ecstatic upon spotting her furry friend from a distance.

After arriving at the spot, the dog was brought onto the boat with some help from an official, and the scenario that unfolded next will make you cry happy tears.

Snuggles and cuddles followed as the woman and her furry friend reunited in a heartwarming moment.

“EMOTIONAL REUNION: Woman is finally reunited with her missing dog after they were separated during the devastating floods in Brazil. Heavy rains which caused widespread flooding in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul last week left hundreds of towns under water. Rescue and recovery efforts are still ongoing,” reads the caption of the post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on May 17.

The floods have destroyed highways and bridges in Rio Grande do Sul, which borders Uruguay and Argentina.

Nearly 100 residents are still missing and more than 500,000 have been displaced, official data shows, Reuters reports.

Eduardo Leite, governor of Rio Grande do Sul, said on Friday that the costs of rebuilding the state after the floods will be "much higher" than the 19 billion reais ($3.72 billion) initially estimated.
