A massive search operation is underway to trace a red Ford EcoSport suspected to be linked to the blast that rocked Delhi on Monday evening. The vehicle is believed to have been used by the same suspects connected to the seized Hyundai i20.

According to the police on Wednesday, all police stations, police posts, and border checkpoints across Delhi have been alerted to look out for the red Ford EcoSport.

Additionally, five Delhi Police teams are conducting searches, while police in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also been put on alert to track the car’s possible movement.

Speaking about the fresh development in connection with the suspected suicide blast in the national capital, which has so far claimed 12 lives, sources told media that the discovery of a second vehicle points to a larger operational network and a layered escape plan.

The sources further added that CCTV footage and forensic data are being examined to trace the movement of both cars before and after the explosion.

Second Vehicle Hints At Wider Network

Meanwhile, top intelligence sources told media that the presence of both the Hyundai i20 and the red Ford EcoSport indicates a well-coordinated module.

The vehicles were likely used to execute the blast and facilitate escape. Agencies suspect the module may have wider cross-border links, and the use of multiple cars points to additional operatives deployed for support, diversion, or getaway, the source added.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the probe, with Delhi Police and units in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh working together to identify the wider network.

The blast occurred on Monday evening near the historic Red Fort — one of the country’s most famous landmarks and the site of the Prime Minister’s annual Independence Day address — when a high-intensity explosive device detonated inside a slow-moving vehicle near the Red Fort traffic signal, killing 12 people and injuring several others.

Authorities are investigating the explosion under stringent anti-terrorism laws and have said that all possible angles are being probed. So far, no arrests have been made, and no suspect has been officially named in connection with the blast.
