Incident happened in Ram Krishna Police thana area in Kankarbagh, Patna.
Patna: Panic struck the Kankarbagh area in Patna, the capital of Bihar, as gunshots rang out suddenly. Reports indicate that the criminals opened fire while attempting to extort money. The daylight shooting sent shockwaves through the area, creating chaos. The Kankarbagh PC Colony, located near NH 30, is a densely populated area with both residential and commercial establishments along Ram Lakhan Singh Path. The firing left the residents in fear and confusion.
Despite the chaos, the Patna police team arrived quickly on the scene and began surrounding the criminals. However, the suspects fled into a nearby house to escape capture. After the criminals entered the building, a large team of Patna Police reached the site, including personnel from four police stations. SSP Avkash Kumar, along with ASP Abhinav and officers from various police stations, was present. Several DSPs and Inspector-level officers also arrived. The SWAT and STF teams were part of the operation as well. The entire operation is being carried out under the leadership of SSP Avkash Kumar.
Meanwhile, the timeline of the entire incident has been revealed. It is reported that the criminals opened fire first at 2:16 PM. Following the alert, the police team reached the site by 2:39 PM. As the criminals attempted to escape, they entered a house around 2:51 PM, realizing they were surrounded. At 3:35 PM, the STF and police teams entered the house to apprehend the suspects.
The incident took place in the PC Colony area under Kankarbagh police jurisdiction. The criminals' broad daylight firing created widespread panic. After carrying out the shooting, the culprits hid inside a house, complicating the police's direct action as the building also houses regular residents. Police have now initiated steps to capture the criminals.
