Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Keran sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said on Saturday.

In a post on X, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said the operation was launched on Friday, after security agencies provided specific intelligence about an infiltration attempt in Keran.

“…On 07 Nov 2025, based on specific intelligence input from agencies, regarding infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Contact established and terrorists trapped," the Chinar Corps said in its post.

“Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation. Search of the area in progress," it added.

A search operation in the area is currently underway to ensure no more infiltrators are present.

Earlier on November 5, an encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district. The Indian Army had said its troops, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, engaged terrorists in the area during an intelligence-based operation.

On 13 October, security forces in Kupwara killed two terrorists. The operation took place in the Kumbakdi forest near the Line of Control (LoC) after the terrorists attempted to infiltrate.

Kupwara district, located along the LoC, has witnessed several infiltration bids in recent months as security forces maintain heightened vigilance to prevent militants from crossing into Indian territory ahead of winter when heavy snowfall blocks major routes.
