One dead, another injured in bomb blast on Manipur university campus

A person was killed and another injured after a bomb exploded at the office of the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) located inside the Dhanamanjuri (DM) University campus, Imphal West district.

Unidentified miscreants blasted a strong bomb at the eastern side of the AMSU office at around 9.25 pm on Friday, leaving two people injured. They were rushed to the city hospital for treatment where Oinam Kenegy (24) died of injuries.

Meanwhile, Salam Michael (24) is currently undergoing treatment. Following the explosion, a police team rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Further investigation is underway as police are yet to identify the attackers.

Notably, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed on the area where the blast occurred, since September 10, 2022, owing to a dispute.
