Two men in Maharashtra's Nagpur were arrested on charges of killing their 29-year-old friend following a dispute over a t-shirt worth Rs 300.

The incident occurred in the Shanti Nagar area on Sunday when the victim, Shubham Harne, refused to pay Rs 300 for the t-shirt to Akshay Asole, who had purchased the item online. Akshay had told Shubham to take the garment as it did not fit him.

An argument broke out between Akshay and Shubham when the latter refused to pay for the t-shirt. As the argument escalated, Shubham, while abusing Akshay, threw the money at him.

Following this, Akshay and his brother Prayag Asole, in a fit of rage, slit Shubham's throat, killing him on the spot. The brothers were drunk at the time, Mehek Swami, Nagpur Police DSP, said.

"They were friends. The incident occurred when the accused were drunk and due to a monetary dispute, they killed Shubham," she said.

Police later arrested the brothers and sent Shubham's body for a post-mortem examination. The DSP said the accused had criminal histories.

"We have found criminal records of the accused in 2012 and 2015 for robbery and roaming around at night in a suspicious manner. We have taken them into custody and are investigating their roles," Swami said.
