Days after a woman from Aligarh eloped with her daughter's fiance, a similarly unsual incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh. A woman from Badaun, identified as Mamta, allegedly eloped with her daughter’s father-in-law, identified as Shailendra alias Billu.

The woman's husband, Sunil Kumar, said that he came home only twice a month and in his absence, his wife Mamta invited her daughter's father-in-law at home. Mamta's son also said that he would be asked to go to another room whenever Shailendra visited.

The two reportedly ran away to avoid any resistance from their families.

Mamta, 43, has four children, one of whom got married in 2022. She developed a relationship with Shailendra, 46, the daughter's father-in-law, over time, as per sources.

Sunil Kumar, a truck driver, said that while he regularly sent money home during his long trips, Mamta would often invite Shailendra home when he was not present.

“I drive a truck and come home only once or twice a month. I used to send money on time, but my wife Mamta used to call my samadhi (daughter’s father-in-law) home and engage in an affair. Now, she has run away with him, taking jewellery and cash," said Sunil Kumar.

The duo's son, Sachin, said that his father was rarely home. "Every third day, mummy would call him (Shailendra) home and send us to another room. Now she's run away with him in a tempo," he added.

The woman's neighbour Awadhesh Kumar also corroborated the family’s claims. "Sunil Kumar would come home once or twice a month. During his absence, Mamta often called Shailendra over. Since he was a relative, no one suspected anything."

According to the neighbour, Shailendra used to come around midnight and leave early in the morning.

Sunil Kumar has submitted a written complaint against Shailendra at the local police station.

Confirming the receipt of the complaint, Daataganj Circle Officer KK Tiwari said, "A complaint has been received stating that a woman has gone with her samadhi (daughter's father in-law). Appropriate investigation will be carried out."
