A shooting incident in Philadelphia's famous Fairmount Park left two minors dead and at least eight injured, Reuters reported. The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Lemon Hill Drive as a large crowd were spending their time in the park.

CBS News reported, quoting police, that the shooting followed a car meetup. One other person was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in the chaos, police said

The incident adds to the growing cases of gun violence in the United States.

The incident comes a day after another mass shooting in Little River, South Carolina, left 11 injured. Police have called the South Carolina incident "isolated" and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat.

The incident happened on a mostly residential street that houses a few boating businesses near the Intracoastal Waterway.

A recent study has revealed that one in 15 Americans has witnessed a mass shooting. The University of Colorado Boulder report found that around 7% of US adults have been present at the scene of a mass shooting in their lifetime, and more than 2% have been injured during one.
