In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death over suspicion of her having extramarital affair and infidelity in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, police have said.

According to the police, the accused husband, identified as Nurullah Haider, bludgeoned his wife, identified as Asma (42), to death by repeatedly hitting a hammer on her head at his upscale Sector 15 home on Friday afternoon.

“Today, the Phase 1 Police Station team received information that a person bludgeoned his wife to death using a hammer over suspicion of affair," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ram Badan Singh told news agency PTI.

The victim was working as a software engineer in Noida while Haider was jobless, officials said. As per the reports, Asma lived in Delhi earlier and was an engineering graduate from Jamia Millia Islamia. Meanwhile, Haider, also an engineering graduate, is a native of Bihar.

The couple married in 2005 and have two children – a son and a daughter. The officials said that the couple’s son informed the police about the murder.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Haider had been suspecting his wife of having extramarital affair.

“The accused husband was taken into police custody. Haider told police that he had killed his wife because he had suspicion that she was having an extra marital affair," Amit Kumar, In-charge of Phase 1 police station told the news agency.
