A man suffered severe burns after setting himself on fire near Parliament on Wednesday.

A man set himself on fire near Parliament on Wednesday.

The indivisual, identified as Jitendra from Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh, sustained severe burns and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

A half-burnt two-page note was found at the scene, but the details of its contents remain unclear. Officials also found petrol at the spot, and further inspections are underway.

According to the police, the man set himself on fire in a park near Rail Bhavan, the headquarters of the Indian Railways, and then ran towards Parliament House.

Police suspect that the man tried to commit suicide due to personal issues he has been facing.

Delhi Police and forensic team officials have arrived at the spot, and a probe has been launched, officials said.
