A man was arrested in Bengaluru’s Govindapura area for allegedly sexually harassing a young woman in public and biting her on the lips.

According to police, the incident occurred when the woman had stepped out to buy ration. The accused, identified as Mohammad Maroof Sharief, allegedly followed her, behaved obscenely, and forcibly kissed and bit her on the lips in the middle of the road.

The woman managed to escape and informed her mother, who then approached the police. A complaint was filed at the Govindapura Police Station.

Maroof has been arrested and booked for sexual harassment and public indecency.

On June 6, two back-to-back incidents of public misbehaviour were reported near Milton Park in Bengaluru’s Cooke Town around 7pm.

A man allegedly approached a woman who was walking with her family and behaved inappropriately. Minutes later, he reportedly entered the park and forcibly hugged and kissed another woman on the lips. When confronted, the accused allegedly responded, “Telling anyone won’t make a difference,” before fleeing the spot.

In another case from April, CCTV footage from BTM Layout captured another instance of public sexual harassment. On April 3 around 1.55 am, a man was seen following two women before lunging forward and groping one of them. The video, which went viral on social media, shows the accused fleeing the scene immediately after the assault.
