A man died due to a suspected heart attack while he was playing cricket at a ground in Maharashtra's Jalna. The incident occurred on December 25.

The victim, Vijay Patel, was chatting with another man, who was at the non-striker end. As Patel, a resident of Nala Sopara near Mumbai, was walking to the crease, he felt some uneasiness and collapsed.

Some people spotted Patel falling on the ground and rushed to revive him, but to no avail. The cricket match was being held at Dr Fraser Boys Ground in Jalna on Christmas.

Although there was no official confirmation of Patel's cause of death, it is believed that he suffered a heart attack.

"He collapsed around 11.30 am while playing a match as part of the Christmas Trophy tournament here. It is suspected that he suffered a heart attack. Attempts to revive him through CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) failed. We are awaiting the post-mortem report," a police official said, news agency PTI reported.

This is not the first such instance that a man lost his life due to a heart attack.

Earlier this month, a 31-year-old techie died in Mumbai due to a heart attack while he was playing cricket in Azad Maidan. According to reports, the victim continued playing despite having chest pain and collapsed while he was taking a run.

In November, Imran Patel, a 35-year-old professional cricketer, died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest during a league match at Pune's Garware Stadium. While walking back to the pavilion due to chest and arm pain, the man suddenly collapsed, shocking players and spectators alike.
