A man is accused of urinating on a fellow male passenger inside the business class of Air India Flight AI 2336, which was travelling from Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, the incident took place as the flight was landing in Bangkok. Sources also told News18 that the victim is said to be a senior executive from a large company, and the passenger responsible has reportedly apologised for his actions.

More details about the incident, including the identities of the perpetrator and victim, as well as the reasons behind the act, have yet to be revealed.

Air India has confirmed the incident, stating that the alleged urination took place aboard flight AI2336. The airline has reported the matter to the authorities.

“In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time. The standing Independent Committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine the action, if any, to be taken against the unruly passenger. Air India continues to follow the SOPs as laid out by DGCA in such matters," the airline’s spokesperson said.

This is not the first such incident to occur on an Air India flight. On November 26, 2022, a man, allegedly in an inebriated state, urinated on a woman co-passenger aboard an Air India flight from New York to Delhi. Ten days later, another similar episode was reported on a Paris-New Delhi flight, where a “drunk" male passenger allegedly urinated on a female passenger’s blanket.

In June 2023, an Air India passenger on a Mumbai-Delhi flight was detained for allegedly defecating and urinating on the floor of the plane while in mid-air.
