A bomb threat was emailed to authorities at the famous Indian Museum in West Bengal's Kolkata on Tuesday, forcing officials to deploy enhanced security measures around the premises, officials said.

The threat, sent by an anonymous sender identifying themselves as "Group 1378," claimed that explosives would be planted at the museum, and a mass killing would take place.

According to the contents of the email, the sender stated: "We will arrive at the museum on Tuesday around 1.20 pm. We will have bombs planted and will go on a mass killing".

In response, security measures have been heightened across the museum, with authorities conducting thorough sweeps of the premises. The police have launched an investigation to trace the sender of the threatening email and to assess the credibility of the threat.

The Indian Museum is protected and guarded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), ensuring a high level of security. Following the threat email, Kolkata Police, along with its bomb squad and dog squad, arrived at the museum to conduct a thorough search operation.

However, sources told media that nothing suspicious was found during the search.
