India has taken a significant step toward strengthening its air combat capabilities with the unveiling of a full-scale engineering model of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) at Aero India 2025. Displayed at the India Pavilion, this marks the first public demonstration of the country's indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, signalling a major milestone in India's push for self-reliance in defence technology.

Developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the AMCA is a twin-engine, multi-role stealth fighter designed to meet the needs of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Weighing 25 tons, it is positioned among the most advanced fighter jets in its category. ADA has integrated cutting-edge technologies into AMCA, including an AI-powered Electronic Pilot for advanced decision-making, Netcentric Warfare Systems for real-time combat coordination, an Internal Weapon Bay for enhanced stealth, and Integrated Vehicle Health Management for predictive maintenance.

A standout feature of AMCA's development is its deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI). The AI-powered Electronic Pilot will enhance situational awareness, identify threats automatically, assist in complex combat scenarios, and enable seamless coordination with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

With these advanced capabilities, AMCA aims to outclass contemporary fifth-generation fighters, positioning India among the world's leading next-generation air combat powers

Aero India 2025 has also seen significant international participation, with the United States showcasing a range of advanced aircraft and defence technologies.

More than two dozen American exhibitors are engaging with Indian counterparts to explore new business opportunities in aviation and defence. Senior US officials, including US Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Jorgan Andrews and General Kevin Schneider, Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces, are leading the high-level US delegation at the event.

Since Aero India 2023, US-India defence ties have deepened through expanded trade, technology innovation, and cooperation in areas such as cybersecurity, logistics, and maritime security.

General Schneider emphasised the importance of the partnership, stating, "Aero India 2025 is an ideal forum to showcase US defence aircraft and equipment and ultimately contribute towards our compatibility and interoperability with other nations".

Spectators at Aero India 2025 can witness a display of advanced US defence technology, including F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, the KC-135 Stratotanker, and the B-1 bomber.

Adding a cultural touch to the event, the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific's 10-member ensemble, Final Approach, will perform for the public at Aero India on February 13 and 14, along with a special performance at Christ University in Bengaluru.
