A woman in Madhya Pradesh was allegedly assaulted by her husband and in-laws, who burned her private parts with a hot iron rod and applied chilli powder, police said.
The in-laws tortured the woman, blaming her after they witnessed another man misbehaving with her at their home in Rajgarh. Police have registered a case against the in-laws and the alleged molester, officials added.
As per the complaint, the husband, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and father-in-law tortured the victim for about two hours, keeping her naked while subjecting her to physical abuse, including kicking and punching.
The mother-in-law allegedly burned the victim's private parts, thighs, and other areas of her body with a hot iron rod, while the father-in-law applied chilli powder to her private parts. The incident happened on December 13.
On the following day, the husband and father-in-law reportedly took the victim on a bike and abandoned her near a police station, police stated.
The woman, however, managed to reach her parental home and narrated the ordeal to her parents, who then filed a police complaint.
According to the complaint, a man identified as Rohit Ruhela came to the woman's house and asked for a steam machine. When the victim told him to wait near the gate, he allegedly closed the door, entered her room, and attempted to molest her.
At this point, her sister-in-law entered the room, and the accused escaped.
“Blaming me, the sister-in-law called my father-in-law and mother-in-law. All three of them stripped me naked on the cold night and beat me with kicks, punches, and sticks. I became unconscious,” the victim stated in her complaint.
“The next morning, they beat me again. While stripping me naked, my father-in-law applied chilli powder to my private parts with his hand, and my mother-in-law burned multiple areas, including my thighs, with a hot iron rod,” she added.
After being abandoned on the ground, a local man noticed her condition and informed her parents about the incident.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 74 for assault on a woman, Section 64 for rape, and Section 3(5) for common intentions.
