A man had a narrow escape after he became trapped between a lift and the wall of a three-storey building for 90 minutes in Hyderabad. The man, identified as Murali, was getting out of the lift on the second floor when it suddenly started moving upwards.

One of his legs was still inside the lift while the other was on the second-floor landing, leaving his leg crushed between the lift grille and the wall.

Murali, 40, had travelled from the ground floor to the second floor with his wife.

As he stepped out, the lift reportedly moved towards the third floor after the button was pressed from above, leaving him hanging between the second and third floors.

His wife raised an alarm, following which other residents rushed to the spot and tried to rescue him. However, they were unable to free him and alerted emergency services.

A rescue team reached the building within minutes and began an operation to free Murali. Fire personnel also joined the effort and used a hydraulic cutter to break open the lift structure.

After nearly 90 minutes of rescue efforts, Murali was finally pulled out and rushed to a nearby hospital. He suffered a leg fracture in the incident.
