Heavy Rain Alert In Telangana For Next 72 Hours, Five Districts On Red Alert Today

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has directed officials to implement safety measures during heavy rains, restrict vehicle movement on flooded areas.

Hyderabad rain alert: Telangana is witnessing incessant rains and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for five districts for Wednesday. CM Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to take necessary precautions and remain on alert.

As IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall for Hyderabad and other parts of the state, CM Reddy has urged the IT companies to allow Work From Home (WFH). Additionally, the education department has ordered half-day holiday for schools in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area for Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will remain off because of Independence Day.

Furthermore, IMD has issued an orange alert for nine districts, and a yellow alert for five more districts.

CM Reddy has instructed the officials to take all necessary safety measures to avoid the loss of life during heavy rains and also ensure no vehicle movement on the flooding bridges, canals, streams and causeways brimming with heavy flows in the low lying areas.

he Chief Minister held a video conference with senior officials of all departments and district Collectors from the Command Control Centre on Tuesday evening.

Sharing the details on X, CM Reddy wrote, “I provided directions on the action plan to be followed during cloudbursts and the precautionary measures to be taken. I instructed that for the next three days, officials, employees, and staff should cancel their leaves and remain vigilant."

As per IMD’s latest bulletin, the red alert is issued to Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Yadadri Bhongir districts.

The orange alert is issued for Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Mulugu, Peddapalli, and Siddipet districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected. The yellow alert is issued for Adilabad, Jagtial, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Rajanna Sircilla districts, indicating the possibility of heavy rain in isolated places.
