Four men travelling in a white Delhi-registered WagonR chased and verbally harassed a group of women on a highway in Haridwar, stopping their vehicles, hurling abuses and behaving indecently. The men were driving in an intoxicated state when the confrontation unfolded.

The incident took place in the Bahadrabad area of Haridwar, where the four men were travelling in a WagonR bearing registration number DL3CBC-9887. According to police, the men, driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, created a ruckus on the highway and arguing and behaving indecently with passersby and women.

The confrontation was recorded by the women on video. The footage captures the tense encounter between the two groups on the highway, with one of the men repeatedly asking the women to stop their vehicle.

At the beginning of the exchange, the man is heard saying, "Abey rok na" (Hey, stop!). A few moments later, he again says, "Abey gaadi rok" (Hey, stop the car!).

The woman responds by calling out the men's intoxication. She says, "Chalo tum wahan par nasha utaaro pehle" (Sober up first, you're speaking while drunk).

The footage subsequently surfaced on social media, prompting police action.

Haridwar City Superintendent of Police Deepak Singh said the police took up the matter after the viral video showed some youths misbehaving with and harassing women passing by on the road.

"The matter was taken up immediately, and an alert was issued for vehicle checks," Singh said.

Following the alert, police intercepted the WagonR and brought the youths to the police station. The four men were then promptly subjected to medical examinations.

The medical examination confirmed that the men had consumed excessive alcohol. Police subsequently took legal action against them under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, along with other relevant provisions, for driving under the influence of alcohol and violating traffic rules.

Singh said the vehicle was registered in Delhi and was carrying a total of four youths.

Police seized the car and initiated challan proceedings as per the rules.

During the police action, the four men publicly folded their hands and apologised for their conduct. They also assured the police that they would not repeat such an act in the future.
