A massive exchange of fire broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpura area of Kishtwar’s Chatroo in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning, officials said.
Around 3 to 4 terrorists are believed to be trapped in the ongoing encounter.
According to sources, after the initial exchange of fire, forces rushed into the spot where the terrorists were trapped.
The joint operation by the Indian Army, CRPF, and the J&K Police is underway. The area has been cordoned off as the forces are making efforts to neutralise the threat.
Two separate encounters took place in Shopian’s Keller area and Pulwama’s Tral on May 13 and May 15, respectively.
The security forces stepped up surveillance and search operations after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The local authorities have also cracked down on the terrorists by demolishing their houses in Jammu and Kashmir.
