Three people, including a father and his son, were killed on the spot after a speeding Audi car rammed into their motorcycle while they were distributing wedding invitation cards in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa, police said on Friday. The driver of the car has been detained.

The accident occurred on the highway near Koshta village in Rewa district. The victims were riding on a single motorcycle when the luxury car, allegedly being driven at a very high speed, hit them with a bludgeoning impact, leaving no chance of survival.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Bhagwat Vishwakarma, a local resident, his younger son Rahul, and another family member who was accompanying them.

Bhagwat’s eldest son was scheduled to get married on February 24, and the family had stepped out to distribute wedding invitation cards among relatives.

Raipur Karchulian police station in-charge Vijay Singh said Bhagwat had just handed over an invitation card to a relative and was heading to meet other family members when the accident took place.

"A speeding Audi car coming from the Raipur Karchulian side hit their motorcycle. The impact was so severe that the bike was completely crushed," he said.

Eyewitnesses said panic gripped the area after the collision, with locals rushing to the spot and alerting the police. The victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared all three brought dead.

Police have taken the Audi car driver into custody and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, including the speed of the vehicle and whether negligence was involved.

The incident has left the family devastated, as what was meant to be a time of wedding celebrations suddenly turned into a period of deep mourning.

Local residents have also expressed concern over reckless driving and overspeeding on highways in the area, urging authorities to strictly enforce traffic rules to avoid such tragic accidents in the future.
