Eight of family die as car falls into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag

A vehicle fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Daksum area on Saturday, killing eight people from the same family, including five children.

Eight members of the same family, including two minors, were killed in an accident after their vehicle fell into a gorge in the Daksum area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

The victims include a man, two women and five children, and they were coming from Kishtwar, the police said.

According to police, the Tata Sumo they were travelling in lost control and rolled down the road near Daksum. The vehicle was completely crushed in the accident.

A rescue operation was launched in the area. A case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated, the officials added.
