Mumbai Metro commuters have an easy way to travel with their bicycles on Lines 2A and 7. Hooks installed inside metro coaches allow passengers to park their cycles safely during the ride. This facility, reportedly operational since 2022, is free to use and aims to encourage eco-friendly travel while improving last-mile connectivity.

A video of a woman using this feature has recently gone viral. In the clip, she can be seen parking her bicycle inside a metro coach, making the process look simple and fun. Her delighted reaction has caught the attention of thousands of viewers.

Woman Demonstrates How Easy It Is To Park a Cycle

In the video, the woman first parks her cycle in its designated spot, then lifts the front wheel.

A clip on the hook is attached to the wheel, allowing her to lift the bicycle into position. She looks pleasantly surprised and happy while doing it. Someone off-camera can be heard guiding her to push the cycle up and make it stand vertically.

After successfully placing it, she claps in satisfaction. Later, she removes the bicycle in the same simple way, showing how easy the process is both ways.

A user shared the video on X, saying: “This is a fantastic facility in the Mumbai metro. I wish to see more and more Mumbaikars using it."

Mumbai Metro Bike Feature Gets People Talking

The clip, shared on October 11, has already gathered over 4 lakh views. However, reactions were mixed. Some users questioned the practicality of the feature in a city with over 2 crore people.

A person wrote, “Having the ability to keep 10 cycles in a metro train is useless. Imagine taking out your cycle in this rush. We should not waste resources on fancy things."

Another said, “This feature will be broken within a few days by rowdy passengers. Indian infrastructure should suit local needs."

Other users saw the benefit and potential of the facility. A person suggested, “If I was living in Mumbai, I would invest in a folding bicycle. Perfect for last-mile connectivity."

Another highlighted innovation opportunity: “We need startups to create foldable bikes if every metro starts having these hooks."

Some users, however, remained skeptical: “The design looks good visually but may not be practical given the rush and chaos inside Indian metros."
