A 37-year-old woman and her specially-abled 11-year-old son jumped from the13th floor of Greater Noida's Ace City Society and died on the spot.

The victims, identified as Sakshi Chawla and her son, were found lying in a pool of blood after residents heard a loud scream around 10 am. Police from Bisrakh station arrived quickly and sent the bodies for postmortem.

Inside the family’s flat, police recovered a suicide note addressed to Sakshi’s husband, Darpan Chawla. It read: “We are leaving this world Sorry. We don’t want to trouble you anymore. Don’t let our presence ruin your life. Nobody is responsible for our death.”

Investigators revealed that the son had been mentally ill for a long time and was dependent on medication. Despite consultations with several doctors and prayers at gurudwaras, his condition did not improve. Neighbours said Sakshi was often distressed and complained that her life had become very difficult.

On Saturday morning, Darpan, a chartered accountant, asked Sakshi to give their son his medicine. After administering it, she took to the balcony. Moments later, both plunged to their death.

ADCP Central Noida Shavya Goel confirmed: “The son was mentally unstable, and the mother was under stress because of this. We have recovered a suicide note. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is underway.”

The Chawla family, originally from Garhi Negi village in Uttarakhand, lived in Ace City Society. Neighbours, who described them as quiet and respectful, remain in shock over the tragedy.
