Delhi High Court Orders ‘Kala Hiran’ Teaser Taken Down Amid Salman Khan Case Row

The Delhi High Court directed the makers of Kala Hiran to remove the film's teaser after a petition alleged it was inspired by Salman Khan's blackbuck case and could influence public opinion on a matter linked to ongoing legal proceedings. The court also issued notices to the filmmakers and other concerned parties, seeking their responses as it examines the allegations raised in the plea.

The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the removal of links to the teaser of the proposed film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, after actor Salman Khan alleged that the promotional material was inspired by his 1998 blackbuck poaching case and contained identifiable references to him.

Justice Jyoti Singh directed the film's producer, Amit Jani, to remove the teaser from various online platforms. The court also indicated that it would order the removal of interviews given by the producer that were referenced in Salman Khan's application.

According to Salman Khan's legal team, the High Court ordered the producer to remove the teaser links within 24 hours. The court further directed that if the content was not taken down within the stipulated time, the concerned social media platforms, including YouTube, would be required to remove it. The directions were issued during the hearing of an application filed by Salman Khan before the Delhi High Court.

In his application, Salman Khan contended that the promotional material for Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy contained clear references to him despite not mentioning him by name.

According to his legal team, the teaser allegedly features a lookalike wearing the actor's signature blue bracelet, an accessory that has long been associated with Salman Khan. The petition argues that these elements make the references to the actor identifiable and raise concerns over the use of his persona.

The High Court has directed the removal of the teaser and certain interviews while the matter remains under judicial consideration.

The court's interim directions do not constitute a final ruling on the merits of the dispute, and further proceedings are expected as the case continues.
