Delhi Court Discharges Sharjeel Imam in Case Related to Jamia Violence

Delhi's Saket court on Saturday, 4 February, discharged Sharjeel Imam in the Jamia Violence case registered in 2019. 

This case was registered under FIR 296 of 2019. The order was passed by Arul Verma, Special Judge (NDPS), South-East District, Saket Court. 

As per the prosecution, Imam had allegedly made speeches at Jamia Millia Islamia on December 13, 2019 and at the Aligarh Muslim University on December 16, 2019 where he threatened to cut off Assam and the rest of the Northeast from India.

Imam was booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3 and 4 of The Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
