Delhi air quality remained in the poor category on Thursday morning, maintaining its three-day streak. However, the AQI deteriorated to 285 – only a few notches below 301, which marks the very poor zone – according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). At least 10 monitoring stations recorded AQI above 300 in the very poor category, according to 7 am data shared by the CPCB.

The 24-hour average AQI on Wednesday was 259, a marginal improvement from 282 on Tuesday. After nine days of experiencing air quality in the very poor zone, the capital saw an improvement on Tuesday. Thanks to stronger winds during the day on Wednesday, Delhi was able to see an AQI in the poor category for the second consecutive day.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51–100 'satisfactory', 101–200 'moderate', 201–300 'poor', 301–400 'very poor' and 401–500 'severe'.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature on Wednesday in Delhi was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius, around 0.4 notches below normal, while the maximum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, about 0.4 levels below normal.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in northwest India, comprising Delhi and its national capital regions such as Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram, along with adjoining states, will experience no significant change in two days before seeing a rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the subsequent three days and maintaining it thereafter.

For Thursday, the weather body has forecast partly foggy conditions, with the minimum temperature likely to be around 8 degrees Celsius and the maximum around 24 degrees Celsius.
