A Class 10 student in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad died after he was stabbed by a Class 8 student at their school. The accused was detained after a case was registered.

The incident happened at the Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad’s Khokhara area on Tuesday (August 19), after which the family members and relatives of the deceased students protested on the school premises.

According to the details, the two students clashed after one of them allegedly hit the other with their elbow while they were descending the school stairs.

Their fight took a violent turn, and one of them was stabbed by another.

The injured student was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Following the student’s death, his family members gathered in large numbers at the school and created a ruckus amid their protests, and attacked whoever they encountered.

The school’s buses and other two and four-wheelers parked outside the premises were also vandalised. The school’s doors and windows were broken, and property was severely damaged.

The protesting family members also assaulted a staff member, the principal, and other staff members at the school.

Speaking to reporters, a relative of the deceased student alleged that the student kept lying in an injured condition for at least half an hour and that no one arranged for an ambulance or helped him.

He also said he first received a call saying the student had fallen unconscious, and then a call from his daughter informed him that the student had been stabbed.

A police force was deployed to bring the situation under control.

Commenting on the incident, Joint CP Jaipal Singh Rathore confirmed to reporters that the incident happened after a quarrel between the two students and that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the accused student.

“Two students entered into a quarrel, and one of them stabbed the other. Police registered an FIR yesterday itself. The accused was detained," he said.“During treatment, the injured child died. So, his family, parents of other students and the Sindhi community gathered on the school premises," he said. “The deceased child hailed from the Sindhi community, and the main accused is from the Muslim community," the cop said.

In a similar incident, a 14-year-old Class 9 student allegedly stabbed a senior to death at a private school in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on Monday.

The incident took place in the morning at Sunbeam School in Maharajganj locality of Kotwali area when classes were in session.

News agency PTI quoted the police as saying that the teenager allegedly stabbed Aditya Verma, a 15-year-old student of class 10, with a knife he had brought to school.

Two other students, who tried to intervene, sustained injuries and were undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital.
