Hindu Raksha Dal's protest against KFC's non-veg menu during Sawan has led to a temporary vegetarian-only policy at the outlet. An FIR has been registered against at least eight protesters.

The KFC outlet in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad has removed chicken dishes from its menu, serving only vegetarian food following protests by the Hindu Raksha Dal over the sale of meat during the ongoing Sawan period and the Kanwar Yatra. The protests broke out in the Indirapuram area, where shutters to the shop were forcibly pulled down, according to reports.

As the protesters disrupted the traffic, the situation was soon brought under control after the police rushed to the spot. A case has been registered against 8 to 10 individuals who were allegedly involved in the protest.

Protesters demanded that non-vegetarian items be removed from menus during this period, considering the month's spiritual significance.

The KFC outlet, in response to the protests, has displayed posters announcing "Only Veg Available for Now".

Meanwhile, the restaurant's management refrained from commenting on the incident. However, customers have confirmed the temporary shift to a vegetarian-only menu at the outlet and welcomed the change.

Visitors to the outlet have reported minimal inconvenience, with many expressing understanding of the decision due to the cultural and religious context.

The authorities are ensuring that such incidents don't repeat, especially during the month of Sawan and the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. Senior police official Abhishek Srivastava said that further legal action will be taken after a detailed probe into the matter.
