CBFC chief asks Pathaan makers to make changes in film, songs amid controversy

JJ News Desk

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's upcoming film Pathaan recently reached the CBFC examination committee for certification. After watching the film, the committee guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film, including the songs, and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release. Pathaan is gearing up for a grand release on January 25, 2023.

The song Besharam Rang featuring Deepika Padukone and SRK in uber-glamorous and hot avatars courted controversy over the use of orange-coloured swimwear. Now, the film has been sent for censorship to the CBFC, ahead of its release on January 25, 2023.

The censor board, after reviewing the film, asked the makers to make advised changes in the film, including the songs. Then, they asked them to submit the revised version of Pathaan for certification again.

Pathaan's first song, Besharam Rang, was released on December 12. While fans appreciated Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's sizzling chemistry, it also landed the film in trouble with Madhya Pradesh minister Dr. Narottam Mishra. The minister fumed over the use of saffron costumes in the film. He also said that the film contains some objectionable scenes, and threatened to ban Pathaan in Madhya Pradesh if those shots are not replaced. He said that the costumes and scenes should be corrected or deleted.
