A major accident was narrowly avoided late Thursday night on Bengaluru’s busy 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar after a man in an inebriated state lost control of his car and crashed into a restaurant, sparking panic throughout the area. The incident occurred around 11:35 pm, a time when the stretch is usually crowded with pedestrians and late-night visitors.
According to police, the car, driven by a 42-year-old man, was travelling from 18th Main Road towards 100 Feet Road at high speed.
CCTV footage shows the driver failing to negotiate a scheduled left turn due to excessive speed and intoxication.
The vehicle jumped and leapt over the central divider of the road, hit a parked two-wheeler, and slammed into the outer wall of a popular restaurant.
The visuals also captured a group of pedestrians standing just feet away from the point of impact, escaping the speeding car by mere inches.
Miraculously, no major injuries were reported, though the incident could have had severe consequences.
Traffic police confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The vehicle was immediately confiscated, and a case of rash and negligent driving was registered.
The driver was detained and later served a formal legal notice. Authorities have reiterated strict action against drunk driving, stressing the grave risk it poses to public safety.
