Case against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, 17 others for 'casteist slurs'

Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan and 17 others are facing a case under the SC-ST Act after the complainant, a former IISc professor, claimed he was unfairly targeted in a honey trap case in 2014, leading to his dismissal.

A case was registered against Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram and 16 others under the Prevention of SC-ST Atrocities Act on Monday.

The complainant, Durgappa, a former IISc professor, who belongs to the tribal Bovi community, alleged he was unfairly targeted in a honey trap case in 2014, leading to his dismissal.

Durgappa, who was a faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at the IISc, also claimed he faced casteist abuse and threats.

The FIR was registered at the Sadashivnagar police station in Bengaluru, following directions from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court.

At the time of writing this story, there was no response from the IISc faculty or from Gopalakrishnan, who also serves as a member of the IISc Board of Trustees.

Other individuals accused in the case include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar and Manoharan.
