Patients at the Sadar Hospital in Bihar’s Rohtas district were reportedly treated under the torchlight of mobile phones after a power interruption affected the emergency ward.

According to local reports, the incident took place at the Model Hospital attached to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram. Medical staff were attending to emergency patients when the electricity supply was interrupted.

The incident has raised questions about the functioning of the hospital’s backup power systems. The facility is reported to have a separate transformer, along with generators and other arrangements intended to maintain electricity during interruptions.

Mishra said the administration took note of the matter after videos showing treatment under mobile torchlight surfaced on social media. He added that a team has been constituted to conduct a detailed inquiry and that further action would depend on its findings.
