In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman in Bengaluru allegedly killed her 14-year-old daughter by smothering her and later died by suicide. The incident came to light after the locals discovered their bodies and alerted the police about the incident.
Based on the information, the local police soon rushed to the spot and recovered their bodies. The police sent the bodies for a post-mortem and launched an investigation.
As per the preliminary investigation, the woman, identified as Suvarna, first suffocated her daughter to death and later hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside her residence.
Talking about the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of the Whitefield Police told India Today that two separate cases have been launched over the incident. The first case was launched by Chandrasekhar, Suvarna’s husband, over the killing of his daughter, while the second one was launched by Manjunath, the brother of Suvarna, expressing doubts regarding the circumstances of the deaths.
Although the initial findings point toward a murder-suicide, police are currently investigating the matter to ascertain the exact motive behind the extreme step.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Meanwhile, the incident has triggered the memories of a similar murder that occurred in Gurugram a week ago.
A woman named Neha Sharma allegedly killed her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter following a domestic dispute with her husband, before attempting suicide herself. The toddler's mother, however, survived the self-inflicted wounds and went through treatment.
A case of murder was filed against Neha on the basis of a complaint lodged by her husband.
